Adapting to our changing climate
The Zero Carbon Act will help us safely adapt to the effects of New Zealand’s changing climate. These effects include rising sea levels and more frequent extreme weather events, such as droughts and flooding. The Act requires the Government to identify and address these risks by preparing a plan.
Identifying the risks: The Government must prepare a National Climate Risk Assessment.
Safely adapting to climate change: The Government must produce an Adaptation Programme to address the climate risks identified in the National Climate Risk Assessment.
